In your heart you plan your life. But the Lord decides where your steps will take you. Proverbs 16:9

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
for love and friends,
For everything
Thy goodness sends.

can you say CABIN FEVER?!

Well, the past week has been anything but eventful. My parents are living with us right now, and it must be hard to be in the same house with our moody bunch! Grumpy moods (from everyone - not just the girls)...junk food galore...lots of movies and TV watching...just basically CABIN FEVER! The best parts of the days are when we sit outside on the patio (I'm so glad it's summer not winter during this recovery) or can take a walk (and hope to not get eaten by mosquitos). If we have to watch the movie Spirit one more time...or eat more Cheetos...it will be too soon! We did spend most of thd day yesterday in the backyard doing some yardwork...the kids stayed somewhat "mellow" out there with us...that was nice being outside for a chunk of time...and luckily today, SH & I get to take G-man to a good friend's birthday party - but the girls don't get to come and they're not too happy about that...honestly - I'm THRILLED to get to go somewhere and be around people at a fun event! Here are some pictures of our "fun" (ha ha) week:
Ms. K LOVES JumpStart computer games...

Ms. P LOVES the movie Spirit...

the girls had fun doing my hair...

G-man loves his new cactus "Leo"

Hanging out on the patio...

Dad is tired from getting up every couple hours to one of two whimpering, hurting tonsillectomy patients...

what a long strange trip it's been

Well, I never do manage to make it through the month of February without getting sick. Each year I end up getting some fun and exciting virus. Well, this year was no different. I got some sort of fun cold bug that had me coughing up a storm for about 3 weeks before I finally went to the doctor. His conclusion/end result was a sinus infection/antiobiotic for treatment. Well, that did help my nasty cough to subside for the most part. However, all of those days of hard coughing/hacking/sneezing/etc...left me with very sore ribs (as you know if you have read my other illness posts). My ribs have been hurting and very sore for about a week now. I couldn't take the rib pain anymore and went to the doctor. I have a broken rib! Go figure! Such fun! I love flu season (joke). Who knew...I thought only football or hockey players got broken ribs! Honestly...this is ridiculous...again - I ask - how long until Hawaii?! Not soon enough...

So, take my advice: next time you have a bad cough that lasts a while - get some prescription cough suppressant - even if it makes you sleepy. Better that than a broken rib.

ugh...

23 days and still counting...

This morning, I went to the doctor because I have been sick since Valentine's Day and I was well past my 7-10 day mark of waiting to pay for a doctor visit (since most viruses last 7-14 days). Since I've now been sick for 23 days (!!!) - I finally decided that it was worth my $25 co-pay to go see the doctor. I got up early since I knew we had a busy day today and - surprise, surprise - there was not a lot he can do for me (gggrrr!!!). THIS is why I HATE going to the doctor - whether it's been 14 days or not! :( Oh - and he said to prepare myself for up to another 2 weeks more of coughing - FABULOUS! I cannot wait...sign me up.

My ribs are SO SORE from coughing for the past 3+ weeks - it's almost more than I can bear. He said if Advil didn't help, he'd give me a prescription pain killer to help with that. I have tried every kind of cough suppressant out there - OTC and Rx - and nothing is working. He did fax another cough suppressant Rx to the pharmacy - but again - do I want to waste another $25?! (I have not picked it up yet...not sure if I will or not?!)

In case you haven't had enough of my complaining, here's a little bit more before I tell you about the rest of our day today:

BREATHING makes me cough - it's ridiculous! And now, thanks to my SUPER sore ribs, even breathing HURTS - seriously. I tried laying on my side on the carpet tonight to play with Charlie & the kids tonight - OH MY! That hurt soooooo bad...I think my mother-in-law could be right...I may have torn some muscles in there...I have been coughing really, really hard for a long time...UGH!!

CAN WE *PLEEEEEASE GO TO HAWAII NOW?!* IS FLU SEASON OVER YET?!

Depsite my waste of $25 bucks this morning on a doctor appointment...the rest of the day was fun. Mr. G had a basketball game this morning. Those are always fun to go to. Here is my crazy husband playing with Ms. P's cheerleader pom-poms:

My brother was able to come to today's game, too so that was neat:

so tired of coughing!!!

I have had this cold-thing for 9 days and it's starting to drive me bonkers. I'm beyond my 7-day mark (I don't like to go to the doctor until I've been sick - or the kids for that matter - for at least 7 days, since the lifespan of a virus can be anywhere between 7-14 days). BUT - I actually feel fine (aside from this dry cough) - so a doctor appt would be a waste of time & money. I thought my cold had become a sinus infection, but now I'm not thinking that is the case. I just have this *really* annoying, non-productive, dry cough.

I have been coughing so much that I now have a headache and an earache and my throat is raw - not from my cold - just from this dry cough. My prescription cough syrup is doing NOTHING to help. I'm upset I took it at 7:30, because I still have one more hour before I can take anything else. Tonight, I'm not messing around - I'm taking Nyquil. I normally don't like to take stuff that makes you sleepy and fuzzy-headed, but tonight - I've had it with this cough! I've been sleeping in the living room b/c my cough keeps Sweet Hubby awake...so maybe if I take Nyquil - I can actually sleep in my own bed...we'll see...

We did have a nice weekend...but do have a very busy week coming up. So - I really hope I'm able to get rid of this cough SOON. I don't want to have to buy yet another bag of cough drops...ick!
